📜Writing Poems📜

Last week, we have been learning how to write a poem and types of poems. In Kakapo Class, WALT understand what a poem is, understand the different structures of poems, understand that poems have a different structure to the writing. The first poem that I wrote was about Christmas.

Oh I feel, I feel, I feel so loved. By the person beside me,
the person behind me, and the person above. Lots of cries and lots of
laughs, and lots and lots of photographs. In those photos I can see a happy
happy family. As we sat together under the canopy, we ate roasted pork that was
cooked perfectly. Laughter and memories came along and then we sang a
Christmas song.

Types of Poems
  1. Acrostic Poem
  2. Cinquain Poem
  3. Clerihew Poem
  4. Concrete or "Shape" Poem
  5. Diamante Poem
  6. Found Poem
  7. Free Verse Poem
  8. Haiku Poem
  9. Limerick Poem
  10. Tanka Poem

This week, I still haven't worked on my poem yet and I don't know what I will write about actually. How about you? What type of poem would you use and what would you write about?

👍Knot Tying👍

Lately, Kakapo learned about knot tying. They learned about the types of knots and what knot is fit for whatsoever. We used a one meter rope to practice for our upcoming camp. The knots were hard to master but I had a teammate to help me with it. "I feel like this is a good skill to have because you never know what's gonna happen!" Priyanci said who mastered the knot tying skill. There were 8 types of knots.

😁IM A NINJA😁

Today I became a GOOGLE DOC NINJA! I received the Green, Red, White and Black belt. For me to gain this,  I needed to do a lot of things such as - highlighting the words, making them big or small, changing the font, changing the margins, inserting images and more. There were levels as well. The White Belt is Level 1, The Green Belt is Level 2, The Red Belt is Level 3 and the Black Belt is Level 4! It wasn't hard, It was challenging. I finished quite a bit faster than I thought and  there were some bits that I needed help with too. What I learned about is how to find the "word count" that counts all of the words that are in the document. We had one hour to complete the challenge.
Thanks to Matawai School, we found out about this Google Doc Ninja Challenge.  Our Manaiakalani facilitator , Whaea Donna helped us when we needed it.

😱Sensational and Breath-Taking Spots In The Far North!😱

Image result for cape reingaNew Zealand has a lot of spectacular sights, but one part in New Zealand has taken my breath away. The Far North is one of the best places that I would ever go and live. It has a special place in my heart. Cape Reinga or Te Rerenga Wairua is a place to look at. This spectacular light house is where the two seas meet. Did you know that Cape Reinga means the leaping place of spirits?

Te Paki Sand Dunes is a Giant Sand Dune
that is popular for sand-boarding. It is
10km long by 1km wide coastal strip of
150m high sand dunes. This tourist spot is
perfect for adventurers. Slide down and have fun!

Image result for 90 mile beachWanna catch tuatuas? Try 90 Mile Beach!
It stretches from just west of Kaitaia
towards Cape Reinga. Too long to walk?
No worries! You can drive! 90 Mile beach is
a designated highway so you can drive on
the beach! Guess what? You can catch just
about 100 tuatuas for each person.

Far North is a best place to go to. These three tourist spots are my favorite place to be in the holiday. Its special to me because it's the first three tourist spots in the Far North that I've been. There are A LOT of tourist spots so don't worry! Like I said back then,New Zealand has a lot of spectacular sights, but one part in New Zealand has took my breath away, The Far North.
I recently moved up here and I am so happy to be here.
Have you ever visited any of these places?

🏄 Surfin Time🏄

My holiday was great! I did a lot of things and one of them was  surfing. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. We learned how to lay on the board properly, stand up on the board properly, and turn the board in the direction you want to be properly. We also talked about things like, what good waves to catch, the safety, what happens when you fall down and the types of waves. On my first day, I was horrible but I got better on the second day and on the last day, I was already a PRO! Jokes...I was a lot better though. The most exciting that happened on the holidays for me was moving houses. We finally moved HOUSES! It was so fun because we get to paint the house and renovate it. But sadly, we had to move into another house......near a BEACH! So, I get to surf everyday.... My hands are so tired because of the hefty rollers and paintbrushes. Anyways, my holiday was a blast. I can't wait for the next one. How was your holiday?😇

🌹-Term 3 Gone Well -🌹

This Term have been SPECTACULAR👌! I learned so many things like, how to write a quality blog comment, do animations in Google Doc, write an article and so much more. What makes this term 3 fun for me is art. This term 3, we did things that involved art such as making an abstract portrait inspired by  Sandra Silberzweig and making hope sunflowers with colored paper. We also have been busy with contracts. Literacy and Maths. It keeps us busy as well us helping us with our learning.

Sometimes we HAVE to get out of the classroom or even the school to just refresh our mind and try to do some physical activities but also using your brain still😊. Cross country was one of them......Uhhhhh😩....I miss cross country. I loved it. I am so proud of everyone and even for me too😁. That was the first time that I actually went into the zones. I was so lucky. Even though it was really tiring and hated running but we were having fun and trying our best and that's what matters💁.

I REALLY LOVE ♥♥TERM 3. It's fun. I learned how to be a great role model. I got closer with my friends and had some new ones. I also started a music club🎼🎻🎶, it's fun at the first day but it's started to get a bit boring and annoying😒😒. I am still trying to make it better though. I am really sad that this term was really fast but I am also excited about what's to come............and because I am also REALLY EXCITED about CAAAAAAAMMMMMMPPPPP!!😊😊

💼I"M GONNA BE A SURGEON?!?!?💼

On Thursday the 13th of September 2018, Kakapo class did a survey about careers. There were about 75 questions to be answered. It took me more than 15 minutes to answer those questions...I mean, you have to read them properly. Before we did the careers survey, I really hoped that surgeon was one of the jobs that suit me. I REALLY want to be a surgeon. I know it's gross to work on people's bodies but at least I can help them and give them a second chance to live. After 15 minutes, I scrolled down at then list of jobs that suited me and guess WHAT?!?! Surgeon was one of them. There was also paramedic, police officer, fashion designer, agriculture jobs and marine biologists. I can't write them all down since there were 100 jobs that suited me. I clicked on Surgeon and it went to a new tab. There it says how much chance I have on becoming a surgeon and how much money they get. It also talks about how many years you have to study and what you need to have to become a surgeon. I'm so happy I got surgeon. I guess it's really my destiny to be one. Hahaha.....Think about it, I could be the surgeon that saved your loved ones life....THINK ABOUT IT!😊😊

👻 A GHOST!!!! 👻

In Kakapo, we have been learning about animations and quality blog comment. I learned how to do animations before but this time, I learned more. I love animations because it is sooooooo FUN to do. Our themes is about quality blog comments. Here is my slide

King George ||| Goes Wild In Pompallier?!?!?!?!?!?!?

In Kakapo, we are learning to write a newspaper article. Today, we made an article about NZ Playhouse and their show called "Little Red Robin Hood" and how they made us laugh. There wasn't any "I,we,us,our" words because it's an article. It should look like we are the "third person".  Here is my article

King George Goes Wild at             Pompallier!

On Thursday, 6th of September 2018, NZ Playhouse actors entertained the students and teachers from Pompallier Catholic School with their show called Little Red Robin Hood. Priyanci Patel, who was one of the students who watched the show said, “It was enjoyable and it was hilarious”.

The 3 actors travelled around New Zealand to entertains schools and other people. They went to Pompallier Catholic School and gave them a funny and interesting show. “It was amazing, it was funny, it was cool, it was ok!” Piper Harrison said and was one of the students who watched the show.

At the end, the show gave the students something to remember, the moral of the story. “I think  the moral of the story was, don’t be selfish and help each other”, Isabel Parangi said and she was one of the students who enjoyed watching the show. Now, the 3 actors from New Zealand Playhouse will carry the show in Australia.

A WAR? WHAT WAR?!?!!?

Last Week and the week before, I have been working on my passion learning. It's about Greek mythology and the 12 Olympians. The 12 Olympians are,

Zeus
Poseidon
Hades
Aphrodite
Artemis
Ares
Hera
Dionysus
Demeter
Hephaestus
Hermes

If you don't know anything about Greek mythology try searching it up or watching the movies like the war of the titans or the clash of the titans. Not forgetting about Hercules! I love reading and talking about Greek Mythology as well as learning more about them. I like learning about their stories and how they work together to fight the Titans.

Museum Trip!

Image result for te ahu museumOn the 2nd of August 2018, Kakapo ( our class ) went out to the museum. We were split in to groups of four and had a game. We learnt about the anchors that sunk and was found and Captain Cook's ship.  There were 3 anchors, one is in Kaitaia Museum, The other one is in another museum in the Far North NZ and the other one was still in the sea. We smelt Kauri gums and had a talk about what it smells like. Many people were saying it smelled like tea tree, honey and sugar. I was in a group with 2 boys and a girl.

ALL KINDS OF ANGLES?!?!

Math is my favorite subject because it is challenging and it is also fun to do. This term, we have learned about times tables, leap years, money, fractions, addition, subtraction and angles. I really enjoyed fractions like improper to mix fractions.
Ex.

6/5 = 1 1/5
Divide 6 with 5 = 1 r.1

I also enjoyed working out angles and parallel and perpendicular lines.

Perpendicular - lines that meet and an angle to 90' degrees
Parallel - lines that doesn't meet but has the same distance continuously.

We also have Studyladder accounts because it helps us with our learning. Our teacher had set us an activity in Studyladder so that every week, we can finish 3 math set activities.

WOW! CRYSTALS!

This Term 2 was great, I learned a lot of learning. We created lots of stuff like Hope Sunflowers, letters that's based on Anzac war and kiwiana clay arts. We also researched early lives about Hone Heke (the first Maori chief to sign the Treaty of Waiting) Edmund Hillary who climbed the summit of Mount Everest and Kate Sheppard who is in our New Zealand $10 note. We have literacy, math and personal goals to work on this term too. We are also training for cross country. We run every Tuesday and Thursday. Every Thursday ( not really every ) we do Science and Chemistry in different classrooms.
