How Did Matariki Got It's Name?!

Today, us Kakapo students, researched about the benefits of lavender and kawakawa. It took us approximately 1 hour to research facts and put it in our google document.
After, we lined up with the Kiwi class kids, we made our way to Piwakawaka Classroom. There were Whaea Ali and 3 girls who was assisting her. First, we were playing with yarn and making Matariki stars from them. Then we learned how to make balm with coconut oil and lavender oil. I also learned that if you put the coconut oil on the windowsill and the sun is shining on it, then it will melt and if it melt two times, then it would smell funny..... Coconut oil is best to store where you put the sheets in. While one of the girls where putting the balm to a plastic container to keep it cool and so that we can use it, Whaea Ali told us as story about Matariki. We were very quiet and we listened to what she was telling. Then after the story, We sang song and watch a video about the song how to sing it. We sang only two lines of the song.... It was 12:30 so we made our way back to the classroom but before that, we said thank you and goodbye to Whaea Ali and the girls..... Would you make balm with coconut oil and lavender?
