ALL KINDS OF ANGLES?!?!
Math is my favorite subject because it is challenging and it is also fun to do. This term, we have learned about times tables, leap years, money, fractions, addition, subtraction and angles. I really enjoyed fractions like improper to mix fractions.
Ex.
6/5 = 1 1/5
Divide 6 with 5 = 1 r.1
I also enjoyed working out angles and parallel and perpendicular lines.
Perpendicular - lines that meet and an angle to 90' degrees
Parallel - lines that doesn't meet but has the same distance continuously.
- Acute
Less than 90'
- Right
Exactly 90'
- Obtuse
More than 90' less than 180'
- Straight
-Reflex
More than 180'
We also have Studyladder accounts because it helps us with our learning. Our teacher had set us an activity in Studyladder so that every week, we can finish 3 math set activities.
WOW! CRYSTALS!
This Term 2 was great, I learned a lot of learning. We created lots of stuff like Hope Sunflowers, letters that's based on Anzac war and kiwiana clay arts. We also researched early lives about Hone Heke (the first Maori chief to sign the Treaty of Waiting) Edmund Hillary who climbed the summit of Mount Everest and Kate Sheppard who is in our New Zealand $10 note. We have literacy, math and personal goals to work on this term too. We are also training for cross country. We run every Tuesday and Thursday. Every Thursday ( not really every ) we do Science and Chemistry in different classrooms.

We've made crystals out of borax and boiling water
Ice cream
We also burnt types of fabrics and time
how long they took to burn.
Have you made crystals before?

How Did Matariki Got It's Name?!
Today, us Kakapo students, researched about the benefits of lavender and kawakawa. It took us approximately 1 hour to research facts and put it in our google document. After, we lined up with the Kiwi class kids, we made our way to Piwakawaka Classroom. There were Whaea Ali and 3 girls who was assisting her. First, we were playing with yarn and making Matariki stars from them. Then we learned how to make balm with coconut oil and lavender oil. I also learned that if you put the coconut oil on the windowsill and the sun is shining on it, then it will melt and if it melt two times, then it would smell funny..... Coconut oil is best to store where you put the sheets in. While one of the girls where putting the balm to a plastic container to keep it cool and so that we can use it, Whaea Ali told us as story about Matariki. We were very quiet and we listened to what she was telling. Then after the story, We sang song and watch a video about the song how to sing it. We sang only two lines of the song.... It was 12:30 so we made our way back to the classroom but before that, we said thank you and goodbye to Whaea Ali and the girls..... Would you make balm with coconut oil and lavender?

Clay Art
3 weeks ago, we made kiwiana sculptures out of air dry clay. All of us did different sculptures and it took us 1 week to dry it. Half of my clay, I made a round and not so thick base and the other half, I made my designs to stick it to my base. It was simple yet pretty at the same time. Before I put the designs to my base, I used a little water to soften the texture and then after I have done that, then I put my designs in. After we all had made our clay art, we placed it on the back table and let them dry for a week. After a week later, some of our clay arts had some cracked in it and the designs were gone so our teacher decided to use a glue gun to glue them back together. Some of the clay arts can't were hard to put together so our teacher put them in the Quiet Zone Room and on the table. The other clay arts were hung. We decided not to paint them because it was hung, so it was just plain white. I was very happy with my clay art even though my some of my designs were gone. What design would you make?
